Graphite

Mica or “vermiculite” is a mineral formed out of a chemical reaction between quartz and granite. Exposed to extreme heat, the mineral expands into pieces 2000 or even 3000 % of their original size, in a spectrum of brilliant colours. The characteristics of this mineral have been known in Japan for 6 centuries.

The Graphite collection comprises endless variations on mica: the popular structured mica is combined with mica shells, with mica mixed with recycled paper, with a very natural looking mixed-sized mica. Some items are printed with a pattern reminding raked sand in japanese zen-gardens, others are embossed with metallic foil, in a tiny square design or an elegant wave.
The natural sparkle of the mineral stones enhances dark colours like graphite, night blue, onyx...

Mica is also known as miracle stone, or breathing stone.
