The Imperialis collection, new from Omexco, presents opulent marquetry designs crafted from Paulownia wood. The veneer is delicately placed against a gilded backdrop resulting in eight art deco inspired designs. The Paulownia tree, originally known as Kiri, was discovered in Japan and brought to Europe in 1835 by Philipp Franz von Siebold, a collector of Japanese plants. In recognition of Imperial Grand Duchess Anne Pavlovna’s interest in botany, von Siebold bestowed the tree with a new name – Paulownia.
